The Texas Center's
Managers Network: |
|
An Overview
The Texas Center is currently facilitating a Network made up of mostly line managers from the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Network was established in response to the need for learning about work innovation to support High Performance Systems (HPS) design and organizational change. The Networks, initiated in 1984 and subsequently
organized in 1986, 1988, and 1990, have far surpassed the initial 25-30 members planned. In 1994, we helped organize a European Managers Network. Shortly, we will probably be starting the Australian Managers Network.

Managers Network Mission Statement
The Managers Network concept is an evolving, networking model that is concerned with Continuous Improvement,
Innovation and High Performance Systems that are on the cutting edge of technology. In essence, we "Benchmark The Best Practices!" We do this by focusing on the future while learning about the past through information exchanges and site visits to innovative, high performance businesses and worksites. Thus, these Managers Networks are of high quality while being concerned about the benefits to the membership.
All five Managers Networks will provide opportunities for members to:
1) organize and provide continuing support for each other to learn about work innovation and organizational change;
2) assist members to learn and diffuse their ideas,
successes, failures, and lessons in a non-threatening environment; and
3) provide a sounding board and network for cutting-edge innovators to stay abreast of all aspects of their responsibilities.
New Networks will be initially organized using the original Managers Networks model. However, new Network members
will develop their own "Mission Statement" and "Goals" which will guide the functioning and activities of these new networks.
