Benchmarking The Best Practices:
The Survey Of Innovative Organizations (S.I.O.)

The S.I.O. is a benchmarking survey for Benchmarking the Best Practices of innovative North American worksites or business units. At present, 102 different organizations (average number of employees (FTE’s) = 943 people) have completed the S.I.O. and will receive Time 2 individualized benchmark feedback data comparing their business units or worksite to the overall North American sample and their Standard Industrial Classification (S.I.C.) grouping. The six benchmarked S.I.C. groupings are: Consumer Products - Food (N=18); Consumer Products - Non Food (N=21); Chemicals/Petroleum (N=40); Service (N=10); High Technology (N=4); and Auto/Steel/Railroad (N=9). The S.I.O. benchmarking survey focuses on four categories of innovation:

  • Organizational Capacity changes;
  • Human Resources changes;
  • Technology; and
  • Total Quality Leadership
